Where Should You Go On The First Date?

Wednesday, October 31st, 2007

By Ann Bendis One of the most frequently asked questions in the history of dating (with the exception of the caveman who was a firm believer in kidnapping and always took his date to a filthy cave) is where should one go on a first date. For starters, there are several places you shouldn’t even think about going on a first date. They are listed below in order of “you’ll die alone” rankings. 1) Never go to your parent’s house, especially if you still live there, on a first date. It says you’re beyond desperate. 2) When you promise someone a good time, it does not mean a luxury chicken box dinner in your out of the way motel. This proves that you’re stupid and freaky. 3) A movie as a first date? When exactly are you supposed to get to know the other person, during the three previews before the movie? This would not be a good call. If you want to watch a movie, watch it at home alone now or save it when the two of you have a reached a comfortable snuggle level. Now that you know where not to go on a first date, let’s discuss a few places where you might choose to go. Here are 4 great places for a first date. 1) A museum is an excellent location for a first date, and they’re generally inexpensive. By chance, if neither your nor your date are history or art lovers, the exhibit will inspire you to talk about something even if it’s nothing but your dislike of museums. Most museums usually have cafes or are located near restaurants so dining should not be a problem either. 2) A casual restaurant or a coffee house is also a comfortable first date environment. Be sure and keep your date’s preferences in mind when selecting a place. There is nothing more itchy than going for dinner at a seafood restaurant when you’re allergic to seafood. 3) A park is a perfect avenue for a first outing. Walks that turn into picnics are laid back affairs where two people can feel comfortable out in the open. This is also a great opportunity to showcase your peanut butter and jelly sandwich making skills. 4) Outdoor concerts also offer another possibility for pleasant initial dates. Two people can talk in a relaxed atmosphere, and the outdoor arena lends itself to comfortable unrestrictive clothing, which in itself will take some of the dating pressure off each of you. One last note. No matter where you go on a first date, always exercise common sense by meeting in public and never doing anything which makes you uncomfortable. Keep yourself safe so you can enjoy all that life has to offer. Check Out these Cool Batman Gadgets

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

By Morgan Hamilton Batman is unique among other superheroes. Unlike Superman or the Flash, the dark knight does not have super powers such as super strength or super speed. He relies more on his martial arts training and cool gadgets to stop criminals in their tracks. Batman probably uses more gadgets than any other comic book superhero. Batman gadgets play a major role in revealing Batman’s adventures, in the original comic strips, on cartoon series, and in feature films. Batman gadgets have evolved through the years depending on the creativity of artist or the director of a certain batman feature. These gadgets are black and often carry the Batman logo. Batmans popularity make batman merchandise very marketable and toyshops stalls everywhere are filled with Batman action figures, vehicles, and gadgets. The Batmobile is probably the coolest gadget in Batmans arsenal. Different design have been made but the Batmobile is usually a black high-tech, high speed car with bat like tailfins. In some episodes the Batmobile was even equipped with weapons like grenades and machine guns. Batman uses other vehicles in his crime fighting exploits like the Batboat and the Batcycle. The Batmobile may be cool, but no other Batman gadget is more useful than the Batman Utility Belt. Its where Batman keeps his portable gadgets and tools like the deadly Batarang. The Batarang is a tailor-made boomerang type of weapon that can be modified to suit every villain. The Batrope on the other hand allows Batman to scale and swing from tall buildings. Robin, Batmans sidekick also uses gadgets that he and Batman concocted together. They would make state of the art Batman Gadgets in the safety of the Batcave. In the Batcave they were able to devise gadgets such as the Bat Radar, Bat Cuffs, Bat Camera, and even a Bat Spray to keep sharks at bay. The Batcave also houses the BatComputer which allows Batman to solve crime and monitor crime activity in Gotham city. Batmans alter ego, Bruce Wayne, is a multimillionaire and the owner of Wayne Corp. the biggest company in Gotham city. Batman used his money to develop weapons and technology that he needs to fight villains that terrorize Gotham city. Another reason that Batman used gadgets was his dislike of using firearms. His parents were killed by a gunman making him feel that using firearms makes him no different from them. Batman without his Batman gadgets would be a lot less exciting, crime fighting batman style would be ordinary. Ingrown Facial Hairs - Three Solutions

Monday, October 29th, 2007

By Mike Jones Ingrown facial hairs are especially distressing of course because they are so visible to others. Depending on the severity of the condition the following choices are available for solving the problem. 1. For those wanting a permanent ingrown facial hairs solution, and who are prepared to pay the higher cost and invest the required time, electrolysis, laser treatment or epilight are viable options. 2. For an economical long term solution use the Ingrown Hair Treatment solution (see Resource box below). This can release trapped hairs and also with regular use after shaving prevent ingrown hairs from forming. 3. For occasional ingrown facial hairs tweezing is probably the best option. Do not use ordinary tweezers to release the hair as there is the risk of taking out a chunk of the skin with it resulting in more skin irritation and damage. Needle-nose tweezers are best. For ingrown hairs which are deep, sterilize a pair of needle-nosed tweezers with rubbing alcohol and individually lift each ingrown hair out of its follicle. If needle-nosed tweezers are not available, wipe a pin or needle and the ingrown area with rubbing alcohol. Then carefully release the hair in the direction that it grows using the tip of the needle only. Never jab the needle into the skin. After the hair is released, wipe the skin with alcohol again. Extra suggestions for Male Ingrown Facial Hairs Let the beard grow as the hairs will not grow back into the skin once they reach a certain length, or Avoid shaving totally for 3 to 4 weeks until all lesions have subsided. Apply a mild cortisone cream available on prescription each morning, or Shave every other day, rather than daily. Mike Jones is a writer and webmaster with over 10 years experience. When You Need More Than Magic To Keep Your Marketing Going

Sunday, October 28th, 2007

By Catherine Franz It is easy to focus on what remains outstanding and not see what you have accomplished or how you have grown over the past year. Even marketing experts have difficulty nailing down time to market. I too fritter away time at trivial tasks like organizing paper clips, shuffling paper from one stack to another, updating my computer and watering plants. On worse days, I prefer doing laundry and making my kitchen even cleaner. Is that you? Procrastination does directly affect how much revenue you make and the bank account doesn’t lie. Throughout the years, I’ve found ways to kindle excitement for tackling my marketing and funneling the procrastination bug. Let me share seven steps to help kick start your marketing for the new year. 1. Acknowledge with Truth You can’t change what you don’t acknowledge and you can’t acknowledge what isn’t the truth. Find the truth by determining whether you’re dragging your feet or simply need an incubating period. As an avid writer and marketing consultant, I receive many ideas. At first, I lied to myself thinking I will remember them. For years, I recorded them in idea journals. Attached to that, I always felt guilty because I didn’t do much after documenting them. Later, I began allowing myself free write whatever thoughts were connected to those ideas as well. The guilt still came. When I gave myself permission to allow myself to fail all heck broke loose and I allowed myself to go in any direction it took me. Sometimes I began in the East and finished in the West. I gave myself permission to not have all the answers. Unexpectedly, I started to create 101 and top 10 lists on various ideas. Sometimes, the idea emerged and I only got to five, sometimes 30. When the flow slowed, I taped the list to the wall. Every morning I reviewed the wall and added more. Throughout the day, answers came from tons of different sources and the lists kept building. The lists circulated. The guilt for not following through disappeared, the process became easier, creativity and productivity skyrocketed. Do you need all the answers before you start? Do you need an incubation period or wall system? Try new things and explore your way to success. 2. Identify What You Loathe What do you hate to do in the marketing process? Make cold calls? Follow up? Write web site content? Create flyers? I didn’t like cold calling and editing. And creating new web content and planning ranked very low on my list. Identify what you procrastinate. Pinpoint the why. I put off cold calling because I felt I lacked the “right” language. When I asked myself “why,” I remembered a marketing seminar and how I bought into presenters beliefs about cold calling. My fear seemed powerful. To dance around it, I began writing mini-parts of a phone script, created a list of questions I wanted to know about them, and then a list of points I wanted to leave them with about me. I made a list of possible call to actions — what action I wanted from the call. One action was to get them to my web site and subscribe to an ecourse or ebook. When I finished, I had a strategy that made sense. It was easy to initiate the calls afterwards. If they weren’t interested, they didn’t visit my web site and I didn’t feel rejected. I refined the script and calls after the first ten calls to reflect my natural language. What whys do you have for each reason on your list? What solution possibilities are there? Ask others to brainstorm with you if you are stuck. Are there some solutions that are only a one-time action? If yes, consider outsourcing. Find one “mini” step to start and leave the next step unknown until you are ready. Keep mini-stepping until you are dancing. 3. Find Something Good Maybe your incubation period deepened your knowledge or passion on the subject. Look for the good in the why. It could be that while you procrastinated your vision became clearer. Be honest with yourself otherwise you aren’t acknowledging it (#1). I found my marketing planning similar to my disability to sort clean socks — no patience. Then I looked for planning methods that don’t require much patience — I began Mind Mapping. I fell in love with the topic and later became a certified trainer. As I traveled through all this, I learned to let go of any feelings of “not knowing it all before I started”. It was a fantastic freeing experience. I no longer felt I needed to follow through on every idea and just the ones that “had more” to them. Then I saw that they all meshed eventually and my trust in the universe and me seemed to flow. I meshed my gift for ideas with my writing and marketing consulting and I had a winning strategy that continues to pay off. Just like in construction, first need to “de”struction before you can “con”struction. Creativity is messy. Roll up your sleeves and laugh along the way. Give yourself credit for your gifts, ask the why for the all the others, take one mini-step and watch a new self- confidence emerge. 4. Visualize Your Successful Self Envision your marketing project or goal done. Really see it, feel it, and connect to the emotions. Don’t look for the dots to connect. They will come. Trust the universe and in yourself. Pull from a personal experience where it did work that way. Give it the visionary power it needs to promulgate. Start small or start big, just start. If its cleaning off your desk, see it clear, feel it clear, feel the emotion of working on it cleared. If its writing, see the acceptance notices. If its marketing, envision the “we want to hire you” responses. In fact, write script them out and create a stronger pull with the Universe. 5. Determine What You Need to Move Forward Who wouldn’t stall, needing the tools, how tos, strategy, system or different approach? With marketing, I felt overwhelmed easily. I created a list of things I could do when I felt it coming on. Now when I feel panicky “my overwhelm signal” I reach for my list. Deep breathing is the one I practice until I find my list. 6. Make the Dreaded Task Fun, Easy and Simple Are you a people person? Perhaps you’d benefit from a social approach to procrastination. Find people or a support group that listens well, allows you to BMW (bitch, moan and wine) and doesn’t allow you to get away without meeting the BMW rule. RULE: You have permission to BMW for three minutes if, and only if, you provide a solution/action step to move past it at the end. Are you an alone person? Schedule more alone time to help you process your thoughts. Arrive at work early, sit in the car or somewhere quiet (not your office chair) and close your eyes. Arrive at the restaurant early, sit and write through your thoughts. Alternatively, you can stay afterwards and write over a long cup of coffee or dessert. 7. Stop Stalling and Get Going Create a check-in trigger that reminds you to take a review. You can use anything that chimes or rings and set it up to create noise on the hour. Keep trying different things until you find something that works for you. If it stops working, find something new. It took me five tries before I found a clock that chimes every hour to work. When I began anchoring the clock to an automatic check-in, I made a list of questions to ask myself. Am I on target? What is my attraction/energy level? Can I do any of this faster or easier? If so, how? When I’m out of the office, I use an old beeper (no service needed) to vibrate on the hour. Works well in the library. Go ahead take your ideas as far as you can, let it germinate and watch it create a new growth, success, and self- confidence. Its fun to experience. Moreover, since it always works, you will keep doing it and doing it until it becomes a new habit. The rest is history. Saturday, October 27th, 2007

By Nicola Ray The venue for your cheap wedding reception is crucial to keeping your costs down. If your budget is tight, the venue is one area where you could really save some cash. There are plenty of ideas out there that cater for the tightest of budgets, but also give you the flexibility to make your day special. Here are some ideas for you to investigate: Local Authority Buildings Believe it or not, your local council may have some gems hidden up its sleeve when it comes to venues. They often have old stately homes that have been turned into local authority centres for training or education. Often these can be hired out and as their training centres they often come with budget accommodation attached. One particular gem is Lea Green, run by Derbyshire Education Authority. I attended a lovely wedding reception here and the price was a steal. To find these gems, start with your local councils website. Village Halls Since the Millennium there have been a number of new village halls built in sleepy villages around the country. Some are beautifully designed with airy glass ceilings or outside patio areas that can make a beautiful venue. The benefit of village halls is that also come with catering facilities and equipment. Most village halls can be hired for a couple of hundred pounds, and normally include all your tables, chairs and equipment too. Local Sports Clubs From the rugby to rowing, most sports have a local club house and if you have a friend or relative whos a member then youll probably be able to use it. As with village halls, the hire charge will be very low. Youll probably also find that they may offer low cost catering too. Start asking around. Public Houses There are hundreds of pubs up and down the country that have great gardens, idyllic riverside settings or great function rooms which can be the perfect setting for a unique or casual wedding. Theyll also be able to do your catering at great prices. So start thinking differently about the outdoor venues for your cheap wedding, there maybe some that surprise you with idyllic settings and picture perfect backdrops. Cryptozoology And The Brey Road Beast

Friday, October 26th, 2007

By Robert Benjamin The Brey Road Beast has been sighted by numerous witnesses including police officers, in Wisconsin - USA, from 1936 to present. The creature has been observed walking upright like a human, running on all four legs like a dog, or sitting on it’s hunches eating roadkill. It averages 6 feet tall, is built like a muscular man with shaggy hair covering it’s body. It has a face that has been called wolf-like, or like a German shephard, with pointed ears. It is reported to have three long claws on it’s hands. People report that the creature stares at them with a gaze that is terrifying. When people have seen the creature illuminated by their vehicle headlights, it’s eyes glow yellow, like some animals. One woman who saw it, reported it is as close as one could get to seeing a real ‘ werewolf ‘. Odors described during or right after encounters with this creature have been reported as being like decaying meat or rotted flesh. The only reported sounds or speech occurred in what was the first recorded sighting of the creature, in 1936. A night watchman saw the beast digging with it’s claws in an Indian burial mound. The watchman prayed and as he did the creature looked at him and growled “gadarah” “gadarah” then sneered as it walked away on it’s two hind legs. It should be noted that the creature growled ‘gadarah’, Gadara was one of the “Ten Cities,” that were originally inhabited primarily by Greek people who settled in the region after the time of Alexander the Great’s conquest. After the Romans occupied the region from about 65 B.C., Gadara was made the capital of the Roman province of Peraea. Gadara was located east of The Jordan River on a mountain about 6 miles south-east of The Sea Of Galilee. The people of Gadara were known as Gadarenes, although the general area was also known as the “country of the Gerasenes” Gadara is the site mentioned in the Bible where one of the most well known healings of Jesus Christ’s ministry took place. After Jesus calmed the wind during the boat trip with the disciples, they arrived at the country of the Gerasenes, which is opposite Galilee. Here Jesus met a man who was possessed by evil spirits. Here is the story as told in the King James version of the Bible: ‘ And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes. And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains, because he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him. And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones. But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him, And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not. For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit. And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many. And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country. Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding. And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them. And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea. So maybe way back in 1936 the Bray Road Beast was telling us what or who it is, a demon or devil who has been around since Jesus walked the earth. We can see from the story in the Bible that the creatures have great strength, for the man who was possessed by them could easily break chains. Also note that the man lived among the dead, in the tombs. When the Bray Road Beast was sighted in 1936 it was digging in the location of the dead, an Indian tomb, or burial mound. Merck Halts Lobbying for Gardasil

Thursday, October 25th, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Joshua_Daly] Joshua Daly Merck has decided to cease lobbying to states for a mandate requiring that young girls receive their vaccination (Gardasil), which protects females from obtaining HPV, the leading cause of cervical cancer. Merck decided to stop its campaign after consultation from the American Academy of Pediatrics which stated that the vaccine was too expensive to be paid for by state funding. Gardasil is taken in 3 doses, each dose costing a 120 dollars. Texas became the first state to require young girls to receive the shot before entering into the sixth grade. The mandate has created a storm of controversy because HPV is not transferred by casual contact from germs such as measles or polio. Since it is spread through sexual interaction, many parents feel that giving their children the vaccination would be undermining their teachings of abstinence. Also, many critics argue that the vaccine is still to new and unproven to make it mandatory. According to Bloomberg, In the U.S., where Pap smear screening to detect cervical cancer is widespread, about 14,000 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer each year and 3,900 die from it. Of cancers affecting mainly females, only breast cancer strikes more women globally than cervical cancer. Nearly half of all men and women who are sexually active in America will contract the disease at some point in their lives. Gardasil is thought to be the savior of Merck depleting pipelines, recording 155 million in revenues in the fourth quarter of last year. The vaccine is thought to have a yearly potential of at least 3 billion dollars. Click here for more information on ordering from discount [http://www.epharmacies.com] online pharmacies. Living By the Truth, the Word of God

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

By Jeremy Hoover Lets be honest: Too many Christian books are nothing but fluff or teach a viewpoint that is borderline contradictory of what the Bible actually teaches. Christian publishing appears, to this reviewer at least, to be focused too much on marketing and profits, and not nearly enough on solid teaching for building up the church. Into this mess, however, comes a breath of fresh airLiving By the Truth by Lillian C. Larry. Larry cuts through the clutter of so many Christian books and gives us straight talk, teaching right out of the Bible into our lives. Over forty-two chapters, Larry touches on the necessity of studying the Bible to what to do when God is silent, from the truth about homosexuality to the importance of Bible school, and many serious topics in between. She even includes the text of scripture for such foundational books as 1 Thessalonians, 1 John, and Revelation. Larry hits hard, and this book may not be for those accustomed to reading Christianity-lite. But never is she harsh or rude; she simply speaks what the Bible speaks, sharing her struggles and showing us how to overcome challenges and obstacles in our lives, all the while remaining faithful to God. For example, in Church Membership, Larry points out the somewhat ridiculous notion of requiring membership in a church context. She asks, rightly so, Why cant I sit amongst the congregation as a sister of the body of Christ? Why do I have to be a member in order to fellowship? In contrast to this view, she discusses Pauls words in 2 Corinthians 3:17where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom (NRSV). Thus, she argues, if we have Jesus with us, it doesnt matter whether we place membership or not; what matters is our truly fellowshipping together in the Spirit of Jesus. Another chapter, Bible School, Is It Really Necessary, is important also. Larry ponders the attitude that finds Bible study boring, and laments the sad state of some seminaries, where one can take a class on the Bible and leave wondering if the teacher is even a believer him- or herself. Ideally, we should sit around the Word of God and let God address us. Too many Christians rely on teaching they pay money for (i.e., in a college degree) or on the teaching from their human pastors (i.e., Bishop X or Minister Y) when they should rely more on God himself. In short, this book was very insightful and helpful, and very true to the Word of God. Read it and learn, and let the words lead you deeper into your relationship with God. Veil In The Uk Right Or Wrong

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007

By Adam Bell This has sparked a major debate in the UK on whether or not the full veil known as the hijab should or should not be worn in public. In this article I will look into the pros and cons in this argument beginning with why the veil should not be worn in public in the UK. There is an argument that says that for generations in England, women have fought for full equality. The veil is an outward and visible sign of the subservience of women in the more conservative male dominated Muslim sects. As such it is unacceptable to the host community which is still predominantly liberal, tolerant and Christian. It is only a small step from the veil to hanging women for adultery. This is not a Muslim state and will never be one. The old adage “when in Rome do what the Romans do” can easily apply here. At the end of the day this is England where everybody should follow the English way. When you speak to a person you should give them eye contact and how can you do that when you can’t see their face. What about face to face contact when you can not see somebody’s face. Whilst any person lives in England you follow the tradition’s and culture of England. Like it or move somewhere else. The other side of the coin in this debate centres on Britain being a multi culturalist society and we should respect and welcome the traditions of other religions in this country. We believe in the right of freedom of expression so it should be perfectly acceptable for a Muslim woman to wear the hijab whenever and wherever she likes if she is not hurting other people. How on earth can the veil make you feel uncomfortable?. You can see her eyes and hear her voice what more do you need to see. Women who prance around ‘half naked’ wearing vest tops, bra tops and bikini tops are the ones who offend and make other people uncomfortable. That compared to the veil is nothing. The veil is a good thing and nothing bad comes from it as result from wearing it. I have looked at both sides of this debate and written about many of the sensitive issues involved. I will now express my own conclusions on the subject. I think there are a lot of different groups who get up in arms over things instead of trying to understand why the problem has arisen in the first place. As far as I understand Jack Straw is not commanding the women of Blackburn to take off their veils. he has asked politely, its their choice if they want to or not. If Muslims believe that women should cover their face then let them. Its a belief and as a multi cultural society we should accept that. When someone notes that those who hide their faces might find it difficult to integrate. This comment should not be a cause for outrage but understanding. Why do people find it difficult to talk to someone who covers their face? Why should not seeing who you are talking to make you uneasy. Jack Straw has opened an interesting debate, the best outcome can only come from seeing why it has been said in the first place instead of getting outraged and setting up defenses. Maybe if we all wore blindfolds we’d appreciate each others personality regardless of what we are wearing. Wind Chimes Go Great With Gardening

Sunday, October 21st, 2007

By Lee Dobbins What could be more relaxing than gardening on a nice summer morning? Listening to your wind chime while you garden! Wind chimes are not only fun to look at but they add much more to your garden then just visual appeal. Wind chimes have tones and vibrations that soothe and calm the mind helping to release all your stress. When you dig in the garden and connect with the earth, listening to your chimes tinkle in the breeze can help you also connect with your inner spirit. Chimes have been used for much more than just decoration for centuries. In fact, wind chimes are used in many Feng Shui cures. You can hang your chimes inside as well as outside, metal chimes are best for North, Northwest and West while wood chimes are best for South, Southeast and East. The number of rods can be associated with the cure you want. Use 4, 6, 7, 8 or 18 rods for luck and 5 rods to reject bad energy. Use bamboo for outside. Of course, you should pick chimes that decorate your porch or garden area to your liking. Theres plenty of styles and materials to choose from. I favor the chimes with a stained glass decoration on top that comes in all kinds of whimsical styles. If you are more traditional, you might go for a simple bamboo chime with an Asian flair. You can even get chimes that are hand tuned if you are really into the sound quality of your wind chime. Hanging your wind chimes is easy. To hang from the top of your porch, you can use a simple C shaped hook that screws into the ceiling. Any type hook can be used as long as it is strong enough to support your wind chime.
